Diversity in the classroom means being able to embrace diffrences in the classroom community such as students from different
cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds; as well as second language learners; students with special needs, exceptionalities, and learning styles and to being able to differentiate content to suit the needs of your classroom community.

Artifacts
Below are some artifacts that I think are evidence of my learning and growth when it comes to the topic of diversity. Diversity is something that there can always be more learning done in order to improve our understanding of communities and cultures different than our own. All of these artifacts and the experiences of growing my knowledge on diversity is important to my classroom as I will likely have students from cultures and backgrounds that I may not know much about, however I am always willing to learn more and broaden my scope of knowledge.

Immersion Paper
I have included this immersion paper as it is evidence of placing myself into a space where I was learning of a culture that is not my own. I attended a lecture on the empowerment of adolescent women in Bangladesh. This lecture allowed me to learn about the lives of women in a culture that is not my own and think from a perspective other than the one I experience daily.

Boy Erased Book Review
This book review is on a novel Boy Erased: A Memoir. This novel is an autobiographical recount of George Conley's life as a member of the LGBTQ+ community growing up in an extremely religious setting where his family sent him to a gay conversion program. I included this artifact as a representation of learning about a minority community that I am not apart of and some of the adversity that they go through just to be themselves. This concept translates to my classroom as I want to be educated enough on topics such as this in order to ensure my students feel safe in my classroom no matter their race, gender, or sexual orientation.

Philosophy of Race And Gender Portfolio
This artifact is a portfolio from the Philosophy of Race and Gender Course I took. This portfolio required me to critically engage with five sources be it text, videos, podcasts, speakers, museums, performances etc. For each source I recount my experiences, how my past experiences could affect my interpretation, their main point, what I learned, and how these sources will change my views in the future. This is important in the context of my classroom as it allowed me to interact with the history of multiple cultures and communities in a hands on way. In my future classroom I will translate this type of hands on interaction with content in order to ensure the curriculum is relevant to my students lives.
